Rammed earth can be tailored to a broad range of climates and design applications. It is well suited to passive solar design as it can store heat and transfer energy through the wall. Alternatively, an insulating layer can be added to the centre of the wall.

Rammed earth construction is low in embodied energy, making it a sustainable and ecologically friendly choice of material.
Gravels are locally sourced, minimising the energy required in transportation. The simple, onsite production uses less energy and produces fewer emissions than mass-produced materials.

The rammed earth wall is a finished product once stripped of its formwork. This saves the time and cost of applying paints or sealants.
Electrical and plumbing conduit services can be cast into rammed earth as the walls are made, eliminating the need for electricians and plumbers to chase the walls after construction.
Creative design
The unique, natural colours and textures of rammed earth radiate strength and stability.
Different ratios of gravels can be used to customize the colour and texture of the rammed earth mix. Dramatic effects can be achieved by casting feature recesses of varying shapes and sizes into the formwork. Light can be concealed within these recesses.
