Rammed earth is a solid, sound proof construction material, generally 300mm thick with no cavity. Rammed earth walls are made using locally sourced gravels that are batched with cement and waterproofing additives. The damp mixture is laid in formwork in consecutive regular courses and pneumatically compacted.

Rammed earth can be tailored to a broad range of climates and design applications. It is well suited to passive solar design as it has excellent thermal mass. Alternatively an insulating layer can be added to the centre of the wall. Different ratios of gravel can be used to customise the colour and texture of the rammed earth finish.

Free quotation includes: Initial meeting, site meeting, designer consultation, draft of quotation. Should a contract not proceed, further engagements will separately incur a fee of $50 per hour, minimum 1 hour.
